Hand Dryer, 2014-2015

In 2014, I set off a hand-dryer without meaning to, and it reminded me of inanimate objects that could also sound like humans. As a process of disrupting the ‘everyday’ experience, I installed various hand dryers in public toilets where the drying element of the machine was replaced with my voice mimicking the sound of a hand dryer - seeking to question the mundane reality of so many of us standing at hand dryers to dry our hands, and the relationship we have with non-human beings in public spaces.
